Can we truly disconnect? Discussing digital detox research with CPCAB
Can stepping away from our smartphones help us understand our relationship with technology?
I joined Ray Van der Poel and Liz Nicholl at CPCAB to discuss the findings of my master’s dissertation on digital detoxes.
As part of my research, I spent 30 days replacing my smartphone with a basic Nokia. In this conversation, we explore that experience and its relationship to attention, sleep, relationships and wellbeing.
We also consider what our dependence on technology might mean from a counselling perspective, and how we can make more thoughtful choices about the place of digital devices in our lives.
Watch the conversation below. You can also read my dissertation using the PDF link beneath the video.
